Cash App was originally launched in 2015 as Square Cash by Square, an American financial services, merchant services aggregator, and mobile payment company based in San Francisco, California.

Cash App is basically an app for sending and receiving money. Its users can create a free account that will then let them instantly send or receive money from other users within the same country.

On February 18, 2018, the service recorded 7 million active users and in the same year they expanded to support bitcoin trading.

The app allows its users to: send and receive money at no cost; instantly make online purchases using their virtual card or in-store purchases; deposit paychecks, tax returns, unemployment benefits, government stimulus payouts and more directly into their Cash App balance; instant discounts at their favorite stores, websites, apps, and restaurants; buy, sell, deposit, and withdraw Bitcoin; pay bills using their Cash App balance.
